Homer Skelton Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Millington

Dec 4, 2019

In 2016, Jeep celebrated its 75th anniversary after it went into production over 75 years ago during WWII.

Formerly known as the Jeep CJ, it was rebranded as the Jeep Wrangler in 1987. Even though most people know Jeeps for their classic rounded headlights, they were square for a while between 1985 and 1995.

The Jeep Wrangler reliability is one of the many reasons why it has such a fanbase. It’s good in sand and snow alike and is a popular vehicle choice for loading up anything from surfboards to snow skis.

What are the features of today’s Jeep Wranglers? Keep reading to find out about all the safety and security features of 2019’s model.

The Doors Are Different

Jeep Wranglers didn’t have doors until the 1980s. For years they have had doors that you can lift out and take off all together. But the 2019 model has options for half-doors.

Or you can opt for the 4-door option which will give you an extra seat, leaving you with 5 seats instead of the typical 2-door 4 seats.

Anti-Lock Brakes

The 2019 Jeep Wrangler has ABS brakes which sense when a tire has stopped rotating due to extreme braking. In these circumstances, it will modulate the brake pressure in order to allow the tire to rotate.

This increases the vehicle’s ability to turn while braking, which makes for a much safer reaction when it comes to loose rubble, black ice, or heavy rain.

Stability Control

In order to help the driver from losing control of the vehicle, stability control will sense when vehicle handling limits have been exceeded. At this point, the car will reduce engine power or apply select brakes to help the driver get back in control.

Airbags

One of 2019’s Jeep Wrangler features also pertains to airbags. The car has front-impact airbags that are designated to protect the driver and passenger’s head during a frontal crash.

It also has side-impact airbags that are designated to protect the driver and passenger’s torsos during a side-impact collision.

Key Security

One of the key security features that the 2019 Jeep Wrangler offers is an ignition disable device that prevents the engine from starting if the correct and original manufacturing key is not used.

Tire Pressure Monitoring

The Jeep Wrangler’s tire pressure monitoring system will alert you if your tire pressure is off.

Keyless Entry

An excellent security feature, the keyless entry feature allows you to go pull the handle without inserting your key, as long as your key is in your pocket. If you need to get away fast or it’s dark, and you can’t waste time fumbling for a key, this is an awesome feature to be aware of.

A Secure Tow

Nothing is worse than having your trailer slip from side to side. And one of the many great things about owning a Jeep is the vehicle’s ability to tow a number of things with heavier weight.

The trailer sway control applies brake pressure on alternating wheels. It also adjusts the engine throttle. These safety features help to ensure that your vehicle and trailer stay stable and you won’t end up swerving off the road or losing your hitch.

It’s Very Aware

2019 Jeep Wranglers are very aware with the most advanced active safety systems yet. It includes full-speed forward collision warning, which is an alert system for the driver and the front of their vehicle.

It also has adaptive cruise control for automatic transmission and enhanced adaptive cruise control for manual transmission.

The Rear Camera

The ParkSense rear park assist system and the ParkView rear backup camera both make 2019’s wrangler considerably safer.

The rear park assist uses sonar sensors that are built into the rear bumper that detect any and all obstacles behind you. If there’s potential for a collision, the system will sound an alert so that you don’t end up hitting anything.

The rear backup camera will bring any hidden rear objects to your attention when you switch into reverse. It will do so using the installed camera and touchscreen.

Blindspot monitoring will essentially do the same thing but while you’re driving on the road or the highway. It will alert you to any vehicle that happens to be traveling in one of your blind spots. It will also warn you of any vehicles that are about to cross your path while you’re backing up.

The Safety Testing

In recent crash tests performed by the Euro NCAP, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler did not do so well for the frontal crash. It did, however, do very well for side-impact crash testing and also whiplash testing.

These tests were performed by the Euro NCAP and the US has not yet posted their crash test results. While these tests should always be taken into account, they are not always indicative of how safe a car is. A manufactured, head-on, car crash is not necessarily how a crash will happen or how a car will react in any given situation.

2019 Jeep Wrangler Reliability

The 2019 Jeep Wrangler’s safety and security features are unparalleled to those of the past. From the basic yet extremely strong frame to new backing up sensors, and from 4 different airbags to stability control, the new Jeep Wrangler reliability makes it an excellent car for a variety of environments.
