For some, a Jeep means the iconic Wrangler. This car has such a following that it has its own regional social clubs. In reality, there are 6 different models in the Jeep Brand.

So which Jeep is the right family Jeep? The answer depends on many factors. Read on to learn which Jeep is the right Jeep for your family.

The Best Family Jeep on the Market

As you head down your path to Jeep ownership the first decision is the size. All Jeeps are SUV’s and all seat, 4-5 people. Some models have more cargo space than others.

Your second decision is cost. The Jeep Brand holds its value, which means there are quality used Jeeps out there. Ultimately, you need to decide how much car you can afford and a payment calculator is there to help.

Jeep Wrangler or Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

If you decide you want a Wrangler, your next decision: do you need a 2 or 4 door version? You should also make sure that you are committed to learning the Jeep Wave, the way Wrangler Owners greet when driving down the road.

Pros

Jeep Wranglers are just cool, which is the reason many choose this brand. It is also built for off-roading. So this would be the family car if your family wants to spend time out making the Jeep as dirty as possible.

This car is highly modifiable with many lifts, light, and hoist options out there. You also get to choose either a soft or hard top option, allowing you to go topless whenever the mood, and weather, inspire you.

Cons

The 2 door version of this Jeep can be difficult to get into and out of on a regular basis and is the reason many families choose the 4 door version. Soft tops can also be loud when driving on the highway.

There is an inverse relationship between tire size and gas mileage, so if you plan to lift your Jeep, this may not be the best daily driver in the Jeep line.

You ultimately have many options if you decide you want a Jeep Wrangler. Check out a few here.

Cherokee and Grand Cherokee

The Cherokee is one of the largest in the Jeep Brand. Cherokee’s have 24.6-32.3 cubic feet of cab space. This gives passengers plenty of room but doesn’t skimp on the cargo room.

While it is not seen as often on Trail Rides, the Cherokee also has options for off-road adventures. The Trackhawk and SRT offer five distinct modes of driving: Snow and Tow, Auto, Track, Sport, and a custom setting with its Selec-Track system.

Pros

The Cherokee comes with many comfort-oriented upgrades. If you want to use your Jeep for long travel, consider adding the top of the line entertainment system. You can also add navigation, Sirius XM, and Apple CarPlay.

The ample number of USB ports will allow everyone to keep their devices charged.

Cons

The biggest drawback is that it is a large car, which makes parking in a city more difficult. Check out Cherokee options here.

Renegade

Jeeps, including the Renegade, have strong off-road capabilities. It also has a very smooth ride, making it a better ride than the Wrangler or Gladiator. You can also add in the popular user-friendly infotainment system.

Pros

Renegades are great daily drivers. They offer great gas mileage and a comfortable ride for all. Renegades come with Jeep reliability but at a lower price point than the Cherokee or Wrangler.

Cons

While the drive in the Renagade is smooth, the transmission is not strong enough to give it super-responsive handling. Check out Renegades here.

Compass

The Compass is a great compromise of many of the features seen in many Jeeps. There is ample storage and a user-friendly and feature-rich infotainment system

Pros

The Compass is trail-rated and cheaper than the Wrangler, but it has more space than the Renegade. This balance of needs makes it great for many families.

Cons

While the Compass is adding more safety features in its base model, it still lacks many of the advanced safety with purchasing upgrades. It also has a sluggish transmission that may be apparent to some drivers.

If the Compass is the right Jeep for you, check out a few here.

Gladiator

If you like the Jeep Wrangler, but need a truck, the Gladiator was designed for you. This is the newest model in the Jeep line. There is a lot more to this model than just a Wrangler Truck.

Pros

The Gladiator Rubicon is about 30 inches longer and 600 pounds heavier than a four-door Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. The Gladiator also has the ability to haul 7,650 pounds compared to the Wrangler ‘s towing capacity of 3,500.

Cons

It is not a Wrangler, and not really a small truck. The Gladiator is a compromise vehicle that comes with some limitations because of it.

Now that you understand all the Jeep Brand has to offer, all you have to do is decide which one best serves the needs of your family.
