Homer Skelton Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Millington

Jul 6, 2020

Last year marked a big upset in the truck world with the Ram making its way from third to first place. Ram sold 633,694 trucks last year—that’s more than both Chevy and Ford.

So if you’re ready to update your truck, why not experience what the rest of America already knows? The 2020 Ram 2500 is a truck to buy.

Read this review and find out why you should consider the Ram 2500 for your next truck.

What’s New in 2020?

If you’re into that all-black look, then you’ll be excited to know that you can buy the Big Horn and Laramie trim levels in a Night Edition.

It features a monochromatic design with black 20-inch wheels, black badging, and an all-black interior.

Ram also included more technology this year that wasn’t previously available. This includes lane keep assist and adaptive steering.

Performance

There are two powertrain options when choosing your truck. You could get the 6.4-liter Hemi V8. It can produce 410 horsepower and 429 pounds of torque.

Your other option is the 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel I6. It’s going to give you slightly less horsepower at 370, but a lot more torque at 850 pounds.

Handling

Hidden away underneath the truck is the innovative air spring system. It gives your truck an unbelievably smooth ride. Then frequency responsive dampening gives you increased control and comfort.

Cargo and Towing

The 6.4-footbed can provide you with 57.5 cubic feet of cargo space. The larger 8-foot bed will give you 74.7 cubic feet.

When it comes to towing, your best bet is the Heavy Duty with the Cummins diesel engine. It’ll tow up to 19,680 pounds. If you opt for the Hemi V8 instead, it has a payload capacity of 4,380 pounds.

Technology

The highlight of the technology in the Ram is the 12-inch display. While it doesn’t come standard on all trim levels, the 8-inch is also quite impressive. You can upgrade to the 12-inch if you wish.

The display can provide you with full detailed navigation maps. Or you can have it display two apps at a time. You can also sync your phone through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Safety

The new 2020 Ram comes with several safety features that assist the driver. These include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.

All trucks come standard with a suite of airbags. All of these features help it score well in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) testing.

Warranties

When you buy America’s longest-lasting heavy-duty truck, you also get the longest-lasting warranties, such as

  • Five-year diesel powertrain limited warranty
  • Five-year roadside assistance
  • Five-year gas powertrain limited warranty

Trim Options

There are six trim level options to choose from. There are a few cab options, regular that seats three, crew that seats five or six, and Mega cab that seats five or six.

If you want an eight-foot bed, then you’ll need to choose the regular or crew cab. The Mega cab only comes with 6 foot 4-inch bed. The Mega Cab is unique in the market and makes this Ram truck stand out.

  1. Tradesman

The Tradesman is the standard base model of the RAM 2500. It comes with vinyl seats, black exterior trim, steel wheels, and manual windows/mirrors/locks. This makes it the perfect workhorse.

If you want to make it a bit fancier, you can upgrade several of the features. This includes the Power Wagon package.

  1. Big Horn

The Big Horn is the first trim level that you can get the Mega Cab on.

The black exterior trim is upgraded to chrome for the bumpers, wheels, and grille. The seats are upgraded to cloth. Remote keyless entry and a trailer brake controller also come standard with this trim.

  1. Power Wagon

If you’re looking for a heavy-duty truck, the Power Wagon is the trim level to look at.

It comes with Ram’s innovative Articulink suspension. It’ll electronically disconnect the front sway bar to give you more impressive travel over challenging terrain. This trim comes with other off-roading features such as hill descent control, a 12,000-pound winch, independent locking differentials, and a responsive rear axle ratio.

  1. Laramie

The Laramie takes the 2500 in a luxury direction. The most noticeable difference is the heated leather seats. They’re also 10-way adjustable for both the driver and passenger.

Other luxury features include the tailgate with key fob control, front and rear parking sensors, and an 8.4-inch display. If the display isn’t big enough, you can upgrade to the 12-inch display.

On the outside, there’s a billet style grille and chrome tow mirrors, and wheels that are unique to this trim model.

  1. Laramie Longhorn

This trim package of the 2500 has some serious “Southwestern style” with its authentic leather seating and natural wood trim.

The wood is reclaimed barn wood. The exterior is laden with chrome and has a unique set of wheels. It also comes packed with technology, including the 8.4-inch display and ten-speaker sound system.

  1. Limited

This is the top of the line trim model and is more of an urban prowler than a ranch work truck. There’s genuine leather trim throughout the interior, including on the seats, door panels, and dash. Accenting the leather is aluminum and wood.

The 12-inch display comes standard, along with power running boards, and blind-spot monitoring.
