Homer Skelton Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Millington

Jan 16, 2020

The Dodge Challenger is a classic American car, considering it first made its debut in 1970. It had a great run up until 1984, when Dodge discontinued this muscle car because of its waning popularity.

However, in 2006, Chrysler reviewed a Challenger concept, which received widely popular demand. As a result, the company brought back the Dodge Challenger in 2008.

Today, you can enjoy the 2020 Dodge Challenger, a signature pony car that performs well too.

To get a great overview of the 2020 Dodge Challenger, read on so you can see what a great new muscle car this could be for you.

An Overview

The 2020 Dodge Challenger hasn’t changed much from the 2019 model, which is good news if you like that one but want the latest version.

It comes in 6 different trims: SXT, GT, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, SRT Hellcat, and SRT Hellcat Redeye. Although Chrysler hasn’t announced the price of the trims yet, we can go off of last year’s numbers. Expect to pay around $25,690 for the cheapest trim (SXT), and up to $72,745 for the highest trim (SRT Hellcat Redeye).

An Amazing Design

There are small changes from the 2019 to the 2020 Dodge Challenger. The R/T trims will have HEMI fender badges and the R/T Scat Pack gets a Scat Pack Bee spoiler badge.

Also, you’ll get more exterior paint options with the 2020 model. The extra choices include Hellraisin, Sinamon Stick, and Frostbite.

Engine Options

For the SXT and GT trims, you get a 3.6 L V6 engine. It’s capable of 305 HP and 268 pound-feet of torque. This engine also has an 8-speed automatic transmission that can either go to the rear wheels or all-wheel drive (optional).

For the R/T, you get a 5.7 L V8 engine that’s capable of 375 HP and 410 pound-feet of torque. While it comes standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, you can also switch to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Next up, the R/T Scat Pack comes with a 6.4 L V8 engine that’s capable of 485 HP and 476 pound-feet of torque. This allows it to go from 0 to 60 in just 4.4 seconds flat.

Is that not enough for you? Then check out the SRT Hellcat. This trim gets a 6.2 L supercharged engine capable of 717 HP, which allows it to go from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds. Transmission choices are either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic.

Last, but not least, the SRT Hellcat Redeye is the most powerful one of all. This vehicle’s engine comes with 797 HP and the 8-speed automatic transmission. You can drive a quarter-mile in just under 11 seconds!

Fuel Economy

As you’d expect with a muscle car, you’re not going to get great fuel economy. This is the tradeoff you get for such a powerful car.

If you’re looking at the trims with V6 engines, they’ll give you better fuel economy than the V8s. It’ll get 23 MPG combined, which isn’t too terrible.

But when you look to the SRT Hellcat Redeye, its fuel efficiency isn’t very good, but that’s to be expected. It gets 13 MPG in the city, 21 MPG on the highway, and 16 MPG combined.

A Roomy Interior

When it comes to muscle cars, you don’t usually expect much room inside. They typically have sleek designs, after all.

But the 2020 Dodge Challenger is quite impressive when you look at its interior. Every trim has plenty of space in the front and very comfortable seats. As expected, people in the back will have less space.

What’s great about this vehicle is its trunk space. It holds 16.2 cubic feet, which means you can fit almost anything you want to bring along.

Luxury Comes Standard

With some cars, luxury and comfort don’t come standard; you have to pay extra for these things. However, you won’t have to worry about that with the 2020 Dodge Challenger.

With this car, you’ll get dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, proximity entry and push-button start, a powder driver seat, 60/40-split back seats, a 7-inch Uconnect system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 2 USB ports, and a 6-speaker sound system. This is all standard!

So when you look at the prices of each and every trim, they’re not bad at all. They’re already quite affordable when you look at the base price, but when you factor in all these wonderful features that come standard, the Dodge Challenger is definitely a steal!

Great Safety Features

If the 2019 Dodge Challenger is anything to go off of, then the 2020 model should be one of the safest on the road. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has given the 2019 model an overall safety rating of 5/5.

It scored a 4/5 for the front driver side and 5/5 for the front passenger side, which gave it an overall front star rating of 4/5. For the side crash rating, this car got 5/5 ratings all across the board. And for the rollover rating, it got a 4/5 with a rollover risk of 11.1%.

The 2020 Dodge Challenger also comes standard with 6 airbags and a rearview camera on every trim. If you want to upgrade your safety features, you can also get blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning, forward collision warning, and adaptive cruise control. Do note that the last 2 aren’t compatible with manual transmissions.
